What is this? Is this a wedding?
Yes, Nneka and Selmaan are really, finally, getting married. On Friday, November 07, 2025 we will gather with a small group of family and legally be bound. Then we will gather with friends and family for a community celebration on Saturday, November 08, 1.00-5:30pm. 

What is a community celebration?
Good question. We think of it as a party, with intentionally chosen activities, moments and speeches. It’s supposed to be fun? As we prepare for the changes barreling towards us, we want to celebrate what this period in New York has been, the life we’ve so far built together, and the beginnings of a different life. You are technically allowed to celebrate us, but it will make Selmaan uncomfortable.

Where is it?
45 E 20th st., New York City. The venue is Verci, a co-working space spanning the building’s top floor and rooftop space.

What should I wear?
You should look good, and you should look dressed up. Is that what “cocktail attire” means? Nneka and Selmaan are not wearing ‘wedding attire’ and don’t expect you to either.

What’s on the itinerary?
We will be serving things to eat and drink throughout the party, but there is no sit-down meal. We’re planning a mix of crafts activities, a live musical performance, some speeches, and a dance playlist.

Would you like to help organize/facilitate an activity?
We love a fun party activity. If you have a suggestion, and/or would help out with an activity during the celebration, let us know! It could be crafting/creating something, an easy party game, or something a little weirder.
